Borneo is home to some of the exotic tropical flora, fauna, islands, marine life, and the multi-indigenous tribes. Borneo being the 3rd largest island in the world also holds some of the worlds oldest Rainforest and has 2 world heritage sites. Kinabalu Park and Mulu National Park. Sabah in the northern Borneo has some of the most interesting places to visit.

Danum Valley conservation area  - renowned as the world’s oldest lowland virgin rainforest and the largest rainforest conservation area in Sabah, a pristine undisturbed Lowland Rainforest 438 sq km. Located on the east coast of Sabah, 81 km west of Lahad Datu town. A tremendous variety of plants and a full range of Sabah’s lowland fauna, including the endangered Orang utan, Clouded Leopard, Bornean Gibbon, Bornean elephant and the rare Sumatran Rhino and Over 300 species of birdlife were recorded here.

Sukau, Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary in the lower end of Kinabatangan River. Has the largest concentration of wildlife in Borneo, including the Proboscis monkey, Crocodile, Wild Orang Utan, Bornean Elephant, Storm’s stork, Hornbills, Kingfishers. Sightings of wildlife are comfortably viewed from a boat. A haven for wildlife photographers.

Gomantong Cave, with an outstanding cave formation and an eco-system by itself, is the biggest Birds nest limestone cave in Sabah. Bats, swiflets, insects, and forest animals inhabit the cave. Located 20 km from Sukau village. Every evening over 2 million bats will leave the cave entrance and swirl around in the sky before setting out to harvest over a ton of insects nightly. A nature phenomena which is an experience of a lifetime. Bat hawks are always ready nearby to snatch the bats to feed.

Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre is a good place to view Orangutan at close range. Young and orphaned Orangutans are taken care by wildlife rangers and fed twice daily at a feeding platform within the virgin lowland Rainforest. Orangutan is an endangered species and rehabilitated here. Once graduated, they are released at Sepilok-Kabili forest reserve and often visit the feeding platform.
